Princess-Seam FR Lab Coats — Fit That Reduces Fatigue
Standard unisex or men's FR lab coats worn by women typically have oversized shoulders, excess torso fabric, and awkward sleeve lengths that create discomfort over a full shift and can catch on lab equipment. Bulwark FR Women's Lab Coats use princess seams through the torso and feminine proportioning so the coat fits correctly — reducing fatigue and the risk of fabric catching in the work environment. Concealed snap closures eliminate exposed metal fasteners.
FR/CP Women's Lab Coats with Westex Shield CXP™
Women's FR/CP lab coats use Westex Shield CXP™ — a 4.5 oz inherently flame-resistant meta-aramid with a PFAS-free finish designed to repel inadvertent chemical splash per Westex Shield CXP™ manufacturer specifications, including 98% sulfuric acid, DMSO, and 50% sodium hydroxide, verified by AATCC 193 A-to-D testing. These provide dual thermal and chemical-splash protection in women's princess-seam fit for chemists and lab technicians working with reactive chemicals.

How do Bulwark FR Women's lab coats differ from standard FR lab coats? +
Bulwark FR Women's Lab Coats use princess seams through the torso, women's shoulder and sleeve proportioning, and feminine length cuts — creating a properly fitted garment for women rather than a resized unisex coat. Proper fit reduces excess fabric near equipment and improves all-day comfort for female lab and research personnel.
Are Bulwark FR Women's lab coats NFPA 2112 certified? +
Yes. Bulwark FR Women's Lab Coats are certified to NFPA 2112 for flash-fire protection and separately arc-rated at CAT 1 (minimum 4 cal/cm²). Inherent flame-resistant fabrics — Nomex® and Westex Shield CXP™ — build protection into the fiber, so it does not wash out when laundered per manufacturer care instructions.
What is the difference between FR and FR/CP women's lab coats? +
FR women's lab coats are NFPA 2112 certified for flash-fire protection only. FR/CP women's lab coats use Westex Shield CXP™ fabric adding PFAS-free chemical-splash repellency to the inherent flame resistance — verified by AATCC 193 A-to-D testing for resistance to 98% sulfuric acid, DMSO, and sodium hydroxide. Choose FR/CP for environments with both thermal and inadvertent chemical-splash hazards.
Can FR Women's lab coats be industrially laundered? +
Yes. Both FR and FR/CP Bulwark Women's Lab Coats are designed for industrial laundering. Inherent flame resistance and (in FR/CP styles) Westex Shield CXP™ chemical-splash repellency are maintained through repeated wash cycles per manufacturer care instructions.
What chemicals does the FR/CP Women's lab coat protect against? +
The FR/CP Women's Lab Coat with Westex Shield CXP™ is designed to shed inadvertent splash per manufacturer specifications from 98% sulfuric acid, DMSO, and 50% sodium hydroxide, verified by AATCC 193 A-to-D methods. The finish contains no intentionally added PFAS. Note: designed for inadvertent splash, not immersion or prolonged chemical contact.
What size range do FR Women's lab coats come in? +
Bulwark FR Women's Lab Coats are available from XS to 3XL in women's sizing, with proportioned length options for petite and standard heights, supporting inclusive FR lab programs for female technicians and researchers.
